Skip Barthold is Guitarist & Songwriter originally from upstate New York.  He went to college at Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore where he was a classical guitar student of Aaron Shearer.   While in Baltimore he was a member of the Peabody guitar ensemble and a co-founder of the Slim Pickin’s Bluegrass band.  Upon graduating from Peabody he moved to New York City.  While in New York he was a regular participant in Jack Hardy’s Monday night songwriters exchange was featured on five issues of the “Fast Folk Musical Magazine” including the premier issue (now available through Smithsonian Folkways).  He also released an album of original steel string guitar instrumentals called “fingerpainting” produced by Steve Gaboury.  He performed solo for many years in clubs around New York City, and with the Irish rock band “The Lookalikes”.  While in New York he also studied jazz piano with Jaki Byard.  Since leaving New York, he has lived in Little Rock Arkansas, Detroit Michigan, & Chadds Ford Pennsylvania, performing frequently in each of these locations.
